Mobile Development
The Egnyte mobile app provides a feature-rich experience for accessing and managing files on iOS, Android, and Windows platforms. Instead of rebuilding these capabilities in your own app, you can deep link directly into the Egnyte mobile app from your native or web application.
This guide shows you how to use URL schemes to launch the Egnyte mobile app and open specific folders.

For a comprehensive overview of mobile features, see the Mobile Overview article in the Egnyte Help Center.
URL Scheme
The Egnyte mobile app supports the following URL scheme:
egnyte://{domain}.egnyte.com/openFolder?path={path}
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
{domain} | string | Yes | Your Egnyte domain (e.g., apidemo) |
{path} | string | No | Absolute path to the folder to open (e.g., /Shared/Documents) |
Note: If the user does not have access to the specified folder, or if the folder has been moved or deleted, the Egnyte app will display an error message.
Deep Linking from Android
To launch the Egnyte app from your Android application, create an ACTION_VIEW intent with the Egnyte URL scheme.
Example
Uri location = Uri.parse("egnyte://apidemo.egnyte.com/openFolder?path=/Shared/Documents");
Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, location);
startActivity(intent);
Setup
Follow the Android Intent documentation to configure URL scheme handling in your app.
Deep Linking from iOS
To launch the Egnyte app from your iOS application, use the openURL method with the Egnyte URL scheme.
Example (Objective-C)
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"egnyte://apidemo.egnyte.com/openFolder?path=/Shared/Documents"]];
Example (Swift)
if let url = URL(string: "egnyte://apidemo.egnyte.com/openFolder?path=/Shared/Documents") {
UIApplication.shared.open(url)
}
Setup
Follow the Apple Inter-App Communication documentation to configure URL scheme handling in your app.
Deep Linking from Mobile Web
To launch the Egnyte app from a mobile website, create a standard HTML link with the Egnyte URL scheme.
Example
<a href="egnyte://apidemo.egnyte.com/openFolder?path=/Shared/Documents">Launch Egnyte App</a>
When a user taps the link on a mobile device with the Egnyte app installed, the app will launch and navigate to the specified folder.
